Artist's Description
A cockfight is a blood sport between two roosters. The first documented use of the word gamecock, denoting use of the cock as to a “game”, a sport, pastime or entertainment, was recorded in 1646.
Cockfight is a popular activity in Cuba. It is a seasonal sport, held only during the coolest months of the year. Cocks are not ready to fight and their plumage is molting during the warmest months.
